Taylor’s Eye Witness, a 150 year old Sheffield manufacturer of premium knifeware, turned to AME to revolutionise the common can opener.

Having identified the poor user-experience and ergonomics associated with the traditional style can opener. AME Group were briefed to realise a user-focused product design solution – whilst changing the aesthetics of this everyday utensil.

The resulting can opener, dubbed ‘Pelican’, works on the principle of a ratchet system. As well as making the process of opening cans effortless, the Pelican also enables users to lift and pour the attached tin, whilst creating an elegant addition to any modern kitchen.
