The world's leading provider of telehealthcare solutions, Tunstall Healthcare, approached AME Group to facilitate the design and development of their new Communicall Vi telecare, door entry and access control unit.

With the requirement for a global launch within a tight eight month time frame, our product design team worked closely with Tunstall’s in-house research and development department. At critical phases of the project we were able to work on site at Tunstall to ensure the continual progression of the project.

The innovative new unit features clean styling and large ergonomic buttons and has been developed to allow rapid installation in a variety of existing homes and new builds. The system offers a landscape and portrait version as well as a standard wall mount and new integrated flush mounted option. The four options give customers more choice in selecting a system to suit their environment, yet costs for manufacture have been managed by producing modular components that are utilised across all the options.

To minimise development timescales further, we made use of our in house prototyping facilities to build SLA and SLS models which enabled Tunstall to test the aesthetics and ergonomics of the device. To build up a supply of component parts and meet the tight launch date deadline we were able to work with a rapid tooling partner in the United Kingdom to fulfil initial orders before committing to hardened steel tooling.
